Where it begins

For as long as I can remember I have be engulfed in sports.  I can remember waking up at 5 am before school to watch the same episode of Sports Center three times before I had to leave for school.  I was always involved in sports as a child, however, the degree to which my athleticism could be measured is debatable.  My high school sporting career consisted of one year freshman football, three years basketball (one spent on varsity) and one lone highlight, a buzzer beating three pointer.  You could say that I am the John Paxson-like thorn in the side of Apache Junction High's JV basketball team.
While my individual level of skill in sports may have lacked (possibly stemming from being the offspring of two Italians under 5'5) my love of sports and knowledge has always been vast.  As I've grown older I have begun to take in all types of sports media; TV, Internet, print and radio.  As I listen, watch, read the opinions of these individuals I can't help but think, "I can do that."  So this blog is my attempt.  In the process hopefully you the reader will endure some kind of enjoyment.
As stated in my profile, I will touch on just about every sport.  Basketball and football will receive a majority of my attention with baseball getting a sporadic nod.  Obscure sports will receive some attention when something news worthy occurs and hockey and soccer will get practically zero air time on this blog. Sorry if that's what you're looking for, those two sports just do absolutely nothing for me.  I love the sports more than any individual team itself, so for the most part you will see an unbiased opinion.  However, I am human so if you see a slight lean towards a Yankee, Giants or Suns fan point of view, sorry (Yankees, Giants, Suns? I'll explain) Bill Simmons of ESPN.com's Sports Guy is a heavy influence of mine so expect a great deal of sarcasm and pop culture references in my writing.  For the most part when you read my blog hopefully you will appreciate the sporting information and enjoy the humor.
Now for the Yankees, Giants, Suns conundrum.  I grew up in a Italian/New York household... in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Growing up Arizona had no baseball team so I gravitated towards my father's favorite team, Yankees.  Growing up in Arizona meant for football we had the Cardinals.  So naturally growing up in the 90's getting to watch a team who only sold out games when they played the Cowboys, I did favor the team from Dallas for a period of time.  I'm not proud of it.  But again, due to the lack of a product, I leaned towards the interest of a family member and became a Giants fan.  As for the Suns, no one in my family really showed an interest in basketball and I discovered the game in the 90's when the home team consisted of Sir Charles, KJ and Thunder Dan making consistent trips to the playoffs. So I hopped on the local band wagon and have been driving it ever since.
So that is the origin of this blog.  Hopefully you will grow to enjoy the writings that will ensue.
